For the second time in two weeks, NBC has pulled the first-year drama "Kings" from its schedule, effective immediately.

For at least for the foreseeable future, NBC will air repeats on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" in the Saturday 8 p.m. ET time slot leading into encores of "Southland."

"Kings" had been shipped to the hinterlands of Saturday after four increasingly low-rating airings on Sunday nights following its well-reviewed March premiere. The move to Sunday night came after the show was originally scheduled for Thursdays, only to be dispatched in favor of "Southland."

In its lone Saturday night airing, this past week, the reimagining of the Biblical King David story pulled in a woeful 2.41 million viewers and an equally dismal 0.6 rating in the key 18-49 demographic.

While those "Kings" numbers proved too low for NBC to stomach in the official TV season, the network maintains that the drama will return to air its remaining episodes starting in June.

NBC has scheduled the return of "Kings" for Saturday, June 13. With seven unaired episodes, the series finale would tentatively be July 25.
