Miley Cyrus, Greg Kinnear do some growing up in new 'Last Song' trailer
Ms. Montana makes a move toward more serious cinema
Miley Cyrus in "The Last Song"
For those familiar with Miley Cyrus' alt-ego Hannah Montana and her various film exploits: be prepared for a more serious side to the famous teen star.
Cyrus acts alongside of Greg Kinnear and Kelly Preston in the cinematic retelling of Nicholas Sparks' "The Last Song." In the trailer below, the story of two children of divorce are switched off from their mom's place in New York to their dad's Georgia beach house for the summer unfolds. Cyrus, as moody piano prodigy Ronnie, does some growing up as she falls in love for the first time, while her dad (Kinnear) tries to reconnect with his obviously disinterested teen daughter.
Mind you, this is a film coming from the same author behind "The Notebook" and all that, so the romance and sentiment factor plays high and hot in this first glimpse. And, while this is obviously a step forward for Ms. Montana as an actress, it sounds like she's not leaving music behind: the end of the clip features what sounds like a new song from the singer and its through music that her character and dad can communicate.
"The Last Song" is due April 2, 2010 through Disney and is being directed by Julie Anne Robinson.

Looking forward to the movie - loved the book. My daughter loves Miley Cyrus but it's not a storyline for her until she gets older.
