Michael Jackson dominates iTunes downloads
Five out of top 10 purchases are the King Of Pop
Michael Jackson's "Thriller"
Michael Jackson has taken over iTunes users' store, and who knows how long it'll last. Five out of the ten top songs and five of the ten top downloaded albums are the King Of Pop.
"Thriller" -- the song and the album -- have the most hits, with the former at No. 3 on singles and the latter at No. 2. The No. 1 seller on iTunes top albums is "The Essential Michael Jackson." "Man In The Mirror" outsold "Thriller" at No. 2.
And No. 1 on the iTunes top song downloads. Black Eyed Peas "I Got A Feeling." Though it's no surprise that any MJ track on this list is better than this lackluster pop track; perhaps "Man In The Mirror" couldn't beat it (heh) because, frankly, enough people already owned that track (as they should).
Another BEP track, "Boom Boom Pow," sits at No. 4. One of our top summer song picks of 2009, Drake's "Best I Ever Had," arrives at No. 5.
MJ's "Billie Jean," "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Beat It" sit at No. 6, No. 7 and No. 9, respectively. Sean Kingston's "Fire Burning" slides to No. 8 while Linkin Park's "New Divide" occupies No. 10.
Here is the top iTunes album chart for this week:
1. "The Essential Michael Jackson," Michael Jackson
2. "
Thriller," Michael Jackson
3. "Number Ones," Michael Jackson
4. "Off the Wall," Michael Jackson
5. "Far," Regina Spektor
6. "The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)," Black Eyed Peas
7. "Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen the Album (Original Soundtrack)," Various Artists
8. "Bad," Michael Jackson
9. "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King," Dave Matthews Band
10. "Only By the Night," Kings of Leon
