'Lost' veteran bites into The CW's 'Vampire Diaries'
Ian Somerhalder joins Nina Dobrev in the Kevin Williamson-developed vampire pilot

Ian Somerhalder may be ready to bite into one of the lead roles in The CW's bloodsucker soap "Vampire Diaries."
According to Variety, Somerhalder will play Damon in The CW's adaptation of the Alloy Entertainment novels by LJane Smith.
Nina Dobrev is set in the lead role as Elena, a young woman who finds herself in the midst of a love triangle with a pair of vampire brothers. Somhalder's Damon is the darker and more twisted of the brothers, while Stefan is the tortured "good" brother.
The trade paper says that Zach Roerig ("Friday Night Lights") will play Elena's jock ex Matt, with Kayla Ewell ("Entourage") as Matt's sister.
"Vampire Diaries" is being developed for The CW by "Dawson's Creek" creator Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec ("Kyle XY").
Best known as "God's Gift to Humanity" Boone on "Lost," Somerhalder also did an extended arc on HBO's "Tell Me You Love Me" and multiple episodes of "Smallville."
