'Twilight's' Cam Gigandent and Lisa Kudrow join 'Easy A'
Patricia Clarkson, Penn Badgley also join Emma Stone comedy
Cam Gigandent has kept himself busy since breaking out in "Twilight."
The term "event comedy" is catching on. 20th Century Fox is currently shooting "Date Night" which stars Steve Carell and Tina Fey, but also features a laundry list of famous faces including Mila Kunis, Leighton Meester, Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Common, Kristen Wiig, and Mark Ruffalo. Now, according to Variety, Screen Gems is getting into the act with their new own event comedy: "Easy A."
Inspired by the classic novel "The Scarlet Letter," the new movie finds Emma Stone and Amanda Bynes living out a similar story in a modern setting. Stone will play a demonized high school student who spins a false rumor against her by pitting her and classmates against each other.
"Fired Up" director Will Gluck is giving the ladies some help by recruiting "Twilight's" Cam Gigandent, Lisa Kudrow, Thomas Haden Church, Patricia Clarkson, Stanley Tucci, "Gossip Girl's" Penn Badgley, Malcom McDowell and Daniel Byrd from the upcoming ABC series "Cougar Town."
Gigandent may have run his course in the "Twilight" franchise, but he's becoming a Screen Gems staple. The 27-year-old actor is also starring in the studio's thriller "The Roommate" with Messter.
"Easy A" will begin shooting next week.
