Laura Leighton has reportedly joined the cast of The CW's "Melrose Place" reboot, providing continuity to the FOX original.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leighton would reprise her role as Sydney Andrews, one of the craziest characters on a show filled with crazy characters.

There would, "Melrose Place" fans know, be at least one small complication. Sydney was left for dead in the finale of the show's fifth season and the series progressed onward with the understanding that the character was, indeed, deceased. Of course, the original "Melrose Place" wasn't shy about bringing characters back from the dead, case in point Marcia Cross' Kimberly, whose resurrection provided what many consider to be the show's finest moment.

The trade paper says that Sydney will somehow turn out to be the landlord for the new crop of Melrose Place tenants, played by folks like Jessica Lucas, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Katie Cassidy.

Post "Melrose Place" credits for Leighton included "Eyes," multiple episodes of "Boston Legal" and a slew of TV movies.
