Josh Duhamel has steady franchise work with the "Transformers" films, but Fergie's husband is going down the romantic comedy route in his free time. The 36-year-old actor already has "When in Rome" with Kristen Bell in the can and now Variety reports Duhamel may romance Katherine Heigl in "Life as We Know It."
The story centers on two single adults whose lives are disrupted by the death of their mutual friends in their accident. They are then stunned to discover they are named caregivers of their friends' now orphaned daughter. Greg Berlanti ("Brothers & Sisters," "The Broken Hearts Club") will direct.
Duhamel's big screen break occurred alongside Kate Bosworth in "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!" but his popularity grew with his role on the TV series "Las Vegas."
Heigl has racked up three box office successes in a row in the romantic comedy genre with "Knocked Up," "27 Dresses" and last month's "The Ugly Truth." She seems like a safe bet for any leading man looking for a hit.
"Life as We Know It" is expected to begin production sometime next year.
