HBO is enthusiastic about the ratings for this Sunday's (June 28) series premiere of "Hung," while the vampire soap "True Blood" continues to break series records.

The premium cable giant says that the 45-minute premiere of "Hung" drew 2.8  million viewers, HBO's most-watched series debut since "John From Cincinnati," which launched out of the series finale of "The Sopranos" in June of 2007.

Including a midnight replay, "Hung," the comic story of a well-endowed aspiring gigolo in economically ravaged Detroit, pulled in 3.7 million viewers for its first night.

HBO was also high on the numbers for the season's third episode of "True Blood," which drew 3.7 million viewers for the 9 p.m. premiere telecast and 5.1 million for the night.

For the season, "True Blood" is averaging a gross audience of over 10.8 million viewers each week. That's a number that includes network airings, DVR numbers and HBO OnDemand viewership. That's a 38 percent improvement on the weekly averages for the first season.

Hey look. That was an article about "Hung" that didn't include a single double-entendre. See? That wasn't so hard. Oh nuts.

dvrlife The Hung double-entendres are getting a bit old but I have to admit yours just made me laugh more (almost typed harder) than most.
