Gucci Mane heads to prison for a year
Gucci Mane has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for a parole violation, according to MTV. He was on probation for charges stemming from an assault, and he apparently failed to fulfill his community service requirement -- 600 hours of it. He will have a chance at parole after six months.
The Atlanta-based star was also formerly charged with murder in 2005, but that case was eventually dropped.
This comes right in time for that Dec. 8 release of the aptly named "The State Vs. Radrick Davis." Gucci Mane, born Radric Davis, has been a rising hip-hop artist this year, guesting on Mario's "DNA" and on popular remixes of "Boom Boom Pow" and "Obsessed." His song "Wasted" made it into the top 5 of Billboard's Hot Hip-Hop/R&B Tracks. He roped in talent like Usher, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne and Mariah Carey for the set, which is actually dropping a week before Weezy finally gives birth to "Rebirth."
