Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams will star as a troubled married couple in the forthcoming indie "Blue Valentine." The Derek Cianfrance-directed drama is currently being filmed in New York and Pennsylvania, according to Variety. The cast also comprises Mike Vogel, Maryann Plunkett and John Doman.
The film, written by Cianfrance, Cami Delavigne and Joey Curtis, centers on the pair's wedded woes, as they flashback to better times in their romance.
"Blue Valentine" is produced by Jamie Patricof, Lynette Howell and Alex Orlovsky, who also were behind the Gosling-starring 2006 flick "Half Nelson." Its financing comes from Incentive Filmed Entertainment, a company with an MO of producing films for under $15 million. U.S. distribution rights are in the hands of William Morris Independent and Endeavor.
Prior to the completion of "Blue Valentine" in 2010, Gosling can be seen sharing screen time with Kirsten Dunst in "All Good Things," due in July. He last co-starred with a sex doll and his own delusions in 2007's "Lars and the Real Girl."
Oscar nominee Williams will appear alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley and other superstars in Martin Scorsese's murder drama "Shutter Island" this fall.
