Gerard Butler thriller adds Oscar nominated 'Citizen'
Viola Davis, Leslie Bibb join Butler and Jamie Foxx in 'Law Abiding Citizen'
The Gerard Butler/Jamie Foxx thriller "Law Abiding Citizen" has added a slew of new cast members, including Oscar nominee Viola Davis.
Overture Films announced that in addition to "Doubt" co-star Davis, Bruce McGill ("Vantage Point"), Leslie Bibb ("Iron Man"), Colm Meaney (“Law & Order”) and Regina Hall ("Scary Movie") are also joining the film.
"Law Abiding Citizen" began production last week in Philadelphia with F. Gary Gray ("The Italian Job") at the helm. The Film Department-produced film will be distributed by Overture in 2010.
The psychological thriller focuses on a man (Butler) whose wife and daughter are brutally murdered. A decade later, he returns to exact justice from the assistant district attorney (Foxx) who prosecuted the case against their killers. Apparently the ADA showed too much mercy? Dunno.
"What a fantastic cast," gushes Overture CEO Chris McGurk in a statement. "We are thrilled to partner with The Film Department on such an intriguing project and hope this is just the beginning of a long and successful relationship."
