Gaslight Anthem announces fall tour dates
Watch the music video for 'Great Expectations'
Of all the bands that have drafted new converts in the past year, Gaslight Anthem is easily one of the most active recruiters. The rock outfit released "The '59 Sound" in August last year, its second effort in only two-and-a-half years, and acclaim poured in.
Formed in New Brunswick, N.J., the four-piece comes from the same territorial pedigree as bands like Pavement, Bouncing Souls, Thursday and Lifetime, plus a well-known basement punk scene. Gaslight Anthem, however, is burrowing its way into the mainstream, sounding of the straightforward rock grit of Kings Of Leon, with the attitude of the Replacements and histrionics of The National.
Check out the ridiculous catchiness of their single "Great Expectations," an example of what it is to have a musical crush on these guys:
That all being said, Gaslight Anthem - who is currently tour support for Social Distortion and has opened for Bruce Springsteen - is going on a headlining tour starting Sept. 8 through Oct. 26 and you'd be mistaken to miss the date they drop by. The excellently named Murder By Death will be opening.
