From 'Star Trek' and the White House back to 'Harold & Kumar' for Kal Penn and John Cho
Is the third time the charm?
How do you go from working in the White House, or sitting on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise, to getting your junk stuck to a frozen pole and helping a baby get high on coke? HitFix talked to "A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas" stars John Cho and Kal Penn to get the answers.
Cho, recently seen as Sulu in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" reboot, fields questions as himself and also speaks for his co-star by doing a hilarious Penn impersonation while wearing a cheap mask.
Penn, who is balancing his acting career with his duties as Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement, assures viewers that no matter how raunchy the third installment is (and it looks very raunchy), the characters connect with audiences because the film still has heart and a genuine holiday spirit.
The first two films grossed a combined $70 million or so (on budgets of around $10 million each), so Warner Brothers is likely to have a happy holiday once the film opens.
After that, what's next for H&K? Outer space?
"A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas" opens nationwide -- in 3D -- Friday, November 4.
