Freddy's back in new 'Nightmare on Elm Street' trailer
See his tragic origin in this new preview
Freddy Krueger is back in the new "A Nightmare on Elm Street."
Not every horror franchise reboot has worked, but after you watch this new preview you'll be counting the days to the new "Nightmare on Elm Street." Director Samuel Bayer and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes productions has taken the franchise back to its horrifying roots. This if far from the campy and ludicrous "Freddy vs. Jason" from 2003.
Pretty much the same footage that blew audiences away at Comic-Con this past july, the new trailer provides a more sympathetic origin of Freddy Krueger and demonstrates why Jackie Earle Haley was the perfect choice to play him. His victims? Another round of good looking twentysomethings including "The Twilight Saga's" Kellan Lutz, Rooney Mara, "The Haunting in Conneticut's" Kyle Gallner, "The Sarah Connor Chronicle's" Thomas Dekker and the new "Melrose Place's" Katie Cassidy.
HitFix's Daniel Fienberg provided some behind-the-scenes details from his set visit this spring a few months ago which you can view here, but in the meantime just enjoy the new trailer below.
"A Nightmare on Elm Street" hits theaters April 30, 2010. Find our more, set a reminder or save this event to your iCal, iPhone, Outlook, Google or Yahoo Calendar here.

September 28, 2009 at 6:23AM ESTgregory richardson yeah and his face i liked the first nightmare on elm street and it was the best out of the whole series all of the other ones sucked its my all time favorite horror movie and i really hope they do it good its either they make it better than the original or they totally bomb it
September 28, 2009 at 2:35PM EST Reply to CommentJimmyJamesInc Thought it looked fantastic. I really enjoyed how craven Fred looked before they killed him. As far as the voice goes, I thought it sounded quite fine. Any Nightmare fan knows that Freddie's voice changed from movie to movie. My only complaint is that other than the snow in the bedroom, it looked like they were trying to setup the EXACT same kills as in the original. Friday the 13th sure that works because the damn movie is so derivative, but this I was hoping would have some unique (not before seen) kills. Still probably going to try and catch this.
September 28, 2009 at 3:03PM EST Reply to CommentNoreen I thought the same thing about the voice. "Wow this looks good, whoa that supposed to sound scary?"
September 30, 2009 at 10:26AM EST Reply to Commenttamara what were they thinking. They can not change freddy and the whole story on how he freddy died. I don't like it. The produces/directors/writers should not change something that is not broken. They just should have left it at freddy vs jason!!!!!!
October 5, 2009 at 11:07AM EST Reply to CommentRamsey you must never scene nighmare on elm street cause that is wat happend dont you remember the mom showin the girl his glove ur stupid dont leave comments if you dont know wat ur talkin bout P.S.. freddy vs Jason was a joke
October 13, 2009 at 11:20PM ESTeric "ramsey", she meant they changed the story because originally freddy kreuger in his lifetime murdered children and he was chased down by parents and killed for it, in this movie they are trying to make it seem like he was killed and wrongfully accused.. even the article says.. they are trying to show a more sympathetic side to freddy's death
