Freddie Prinze Jr. nabs regular '24' role
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Prinze will be a regular on "24" Day Eight, playing David Cole, an ex-Marine who hopes to be the next Jack Bauer, now running CTU's field ops. He ought to be careful, because things haven't necessarily worked out well for Jack Bauer's proteges in the past. Has anybody spotted James Badge Dale's Chase lately?
Day Eight began production on Wednesday (May 27) and the new season, which won't premiere until January, is already bursting with fresh faces, including Anil Kapoor as a Middle Eastern leader, Chris Diamantopoulos as President Taylor's new chief-of-staff and John Boyd as a new CTU systems analyst. Also joining the cast in a recurring role is Jennifer Westfeldt as a reporter.
The trade paper says that Nazneen Contractor will recur as the daughter of Kapoor's character. We're just going to go out on a limb and say that she'll eventually be held hostage.
This will be Prinze's first regular TV gig since the ABC comedy "Freddie," though not for lack of trying. The "Scooby Doo" star and "Boston Legal" guest star toplined the 2007 pilot "Atlanta" and was one of the stars of ABC's recent superhero comedy pilot "No Heroics."
