FOX sets summer premiere schedule
FOX will be keeping busy this summer with the new drama "Mental," fresh seasons of "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Hell's Kitchen," plus original episodes of "Don't Forget the Lyrics!," "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?," "COPS" and "America's Most Wanted."
The network announced its full summer premiere schedule on Friday (March 27).
FOX had previously set May 21 and May 27 for the four-hour premiere of the fifth season of "So You Think You Can Dance?" As usual, two-hour performance episodes will air on Wednesdays, with hour-long results episodes on Thursdays.
Also launching at the end of May is "Mental," an internationally financed and produced medical procedural starring Chris Vance ("Prison Break") and Annabella Sciorra ("The Sopranos"). Set around the Mental Heath Services unit at a Los Angeles hospital, "Mental" will premiere on Friday, May 22 at 9 p.m. ET.
May 22 will also mark the return of "Don't Forget the Lyrics," which will air in the 8 p.m. hour until July 3, when new episodes of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" will take its place.
While the American incarnation of "Hell's Kitchen" is still making its way through its fifth installment, FOX has another round of Gordon Ramsay's temper tantrums premiering on Tuesday, July 21 with a two-hour episode. "Hell's Kitchen" will air on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. in the summer.
As FOX previously announced, the Teen Choice Awards will air on Monday, August 10.
