FOX, which kicks off the upfronts season on Monday (May 18) is getting a head-start on the big week.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, FOX has picked up the action-thriller "Human Target" and the single-camera comedy "Sons of Tucson," which will join "The Cleveland Show" and "Glee" as new shows on the network's schedule for next season.
"Human Target" is based on the DC Comics series and focuses on a freelancer who assumes the identities of people in danger, becoming a human target. Mark Valley stars, with Jackie Earle Haley and Chi McBride in supporting roles.
The "Human Target" pilot was directed by Simon West, who previously worked with Valley and FOX on the critically admired "Keen Eddie," which ended up as a short-lived summer burn-off on the network.
"Sons of Tucson" stars Tyler Labine as a schlub hired by three young brothers to pretend to be their father while their real dad is in prison. Frank Dolce, Davis Cleveland, Troy Gentile and Natalie Martinez.
For Labine, "Sons of Tucson" was in second-position to The CW's "Reaper," though it would probably be fair to guess that this early order is an indication that the future is bleak for "Reaper."
