Are you brave enough to venture into the Dark Forest? Go behind the scenes of the new fairy tale adventure film "Snow White and the Huntsman" in the above featurette, exclusively on HitFix.

The clip is an intense two minutes showing off the film's visual splendors (the forest is home to as many fantasy creatures as "Avatar" -- including one very ticked-off troll), epic action and humane heart.

Cast masters Kristen Stewart ("Twilight"), Chris Hemsworth ("The Avengers") and Charlize Theron ("Prometheus") talk up the film's various strong points, along with director Rupert Sanders, who's making his feature debut.

So far, all the trailers, photos and other promotional material seem to point in one direction: This is no mere fairy tale. This is grand adventure on a large scale that combines contemporary blockbuster Hollywood style with the classical, dark tone of the Brothers Grimm.

The film is a revisionist take on the classic fairy tale in which Snow (Stewart) is far from a damsel in distress. Instead, she's a rebel warrior who raises an army to vanquish the land's tyrannical queen (Theron). Along the way, Snow comes across The Huntsman (Hemsworth), a skilled fighter hired to capture her, who instead joins her side.

"Snow White and the Huntsman" opens nationwide June 1.
