After back-to-back family friendly endeavors "Race to Witch Mountain" and the upcoming "Tooth Fairy," which was preceded by a supporting role in the tame comedy action flick "Get Smart," Dwayne Johnson is finally getting his hands dirty again.  Variety reports the actor has agreed to reunite with his "Gridiron Gang" director Phil Joanou for the new thriller "Fasher."

The third CBS Films feature to go into production, "Faster" will find Johnson as an ex-con intent on avenging the murder of his brother 10 years earlier while the two were double-crossed during a robbery.

Still not dead, but hardly close to production is New Line's adaptation of "Shazam," which would feature the modern big screen debut of DC's Captain Marvel.  Johnson has long been attached to play Marvel's nemesis Black Adam, but the project continues to languish in development hell. Fans can find Johnson back in theaters next winter when "Tooth Fairy" arrives on Jan. 22.

"Flasher" should begin filming sometime this August.
