The first episode of "Jonas," which co-stars Chelsea Staub ("Minutemen"), Nicole Anderson ("Hannah Montana"), John Ducey ("Will and Grace") and Rebecca Creskoff ("Mad Men"), will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Saturday, May 2.
The "Jonas" premiere will be simulcast on Sprint TV and MobiTV and will be made available on the Disney Channel website.
"The true test of artists is their willingness to stretch creatively – to tackle new challenges," says Disney Channels Worldwide Entertainment President Gary MArsh. "The Jonas Brothers, already established as music superstars, have done just that with 'Jonas' -- by stretching beyond their established comfort zone into the world of television comedy. And what makes them great performers on the stage -- their talent for relating to, and connecting with their audience – serves them perfectly as comedic actors."
While the show is called "Jonas" and stars The Jonas Brothers, they're actually playing the Lucas Brothers -- Joe, Nick and Kevin Lucas -- in the series. Episodes will feature original Jonas Brothers songs created for the series.
Disney Channel will set up the "Jonas" premiere on May 12 with an encore presentation of the smash hit "Camp Rock," followed by a 15-episode "Hannah Montana" marathon. It will be followed by a new episode of "Wizards of Waverly Place."
The Jonas Brothers are in the odd position of needing a hit. As big a sensation as they've been on tour and on TV, their feature "Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience" has been a box office disappointment, taking in under $20 million domestic to date.
