It's unclear if Elizabeth Banks will reprise her role as Miss Betty Brant in "Spider-Man 4," but she's finally going to get more than some throwaway lines opposite Tobey Maguire. Variety reports Maguire will step in for previously announced James McAvoy in the dark comedy "The Details."
The indie will find Maguire and Banks as a struggling married couple whose complicated relationship jumps the shark once some ravenous raccoons burrow under the sod of their back yard. The couple's inability to deal with the situation leads to a series of mishaps including a murder by, of all things, bow and arrow.
Jacob Estes ("Mean Creek") will direct the picture which also stars Laura Linney, Ray Liotta, Dennis Haysbert and Anna Friel. McAvoy had to depart the project because of a scheduling conflict.
Maguire, who next appears in "Brothers" alongside Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllehnaal, will segue from "Details" into "Spider-Man 4."
Banks, who recently appeared in "W." and "Zach and Miri Make A Porno," is an executive producer of "Surrogates."
"The Details" will begin shooting in Seattle, WA next month.
