AI's David cook adds summer and fall tour dates
The AI winner's tour kicks off tomorrow in San Diego
David Cook
The next leg of his North American tour hasn't even kicked off yet, but American Idol season 7 winner David Cook is prepared to tack on a slew of additional dates to his "Declaration Tour" this fall.
The stint - named for first song of his debut self-title record - kicks off tomorrow night at the San Diego Fair, held in Del Mar, Calif., with confirmed dates continuing through Aug. 21. According to a 19 Recordings / RCA Records release, the solo trek will definitely continue into October.
Released around Thanksgiving last year, "David Cook" entered and peaked at No. 3 on The Billboard 200. Since winning the televised competition last year, Cook - a Kansas City native (holler!) - has been touring practically non-stop, from the AI 2008 finalists tour to his own headlining run that began in April.
It was only last month, however, that Cook experienced the loss of his older brother Adam, from brain cancer. Cook himself learned of the news during the Race for Hope, a fundraiser for brain cancer research, in Washington, D.C.
"I have amazing people just kind of surrounding me from all levels," he said on television show "Larry King Live" on Monday. "I'm extremely close to my family. I've been able to surround myself professionally with a ton of great people and that's from my management, my label, all the way down to my fans."
