Current TV ousts talk show host Keith Olbermann
'Countdown' will be replaced with former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's show
Keith Olbermann
NEW YORK (AP) — Current TV says it has ejected Keith Olbermann from its talk-show lineup after less than a year.
The network announced late Friday afternoon that "Countdown," the show Olbermann has hosted since last June, was to be replaced with a show hosted by former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, beginning Friday night.
"Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer" will air weeknights at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Spitzer previously had a talk show on CNN.
The sometimes volatile Olbermann came to Current last year as the centerpiece of its new prime-time schedule after a stormy eight-year stint at MSNBC, followed by his abrupt departure.
Current said in a statement that its values of respect, openness and collegiality were no longer reflected in its relationship with Olbermann. It offered no details.

March 31, 2012 at 3:42AM EST Reply to CommentDid Current TV simply use Keith to gain attention and higher ratings? They KNEW what they were getting! Keith injects emotion into his commentary, his intelligent and incisive reporting, his humor, and his relationships....all of which makes his program so interesting. You FEEL his pain, you FEEL his anger, and you FEEL his heart-felt sincerity when he covers a story. He's never just a talking head! If Keith is absent from Current TV, then I too will be absent from Current TV. Keith is unique- one of the best- hands down; as shown by is coverage of OWS, which was outstanding. I wish him well and hope he is back on the air soon.
Intellectual Ninja And what's funny about you and about this, is, you are (probably) disgusted by the people who feel the same way YOU do about this douche, but about O'Reilly, Olbermann's rival, instead.
March 31, 2012 at 8:33PM ESTAh, ideology... doesn't leave much room for common sense and decency, something often missing from Olbermann's "incisive" commentary.
