Comedy Central appears to believe very strongly in comic Daniel Tosh.
On Wednesday (Dec. 16), the cable network announced a second season pickup for "Tosh.0," in which Tosh covers the best (and worst) the Internet has to offer.
And it isn't a small second season pickup. Comedy Central has ordered 25 episodes of "Tosh.0," the network's largest single season order to date. New episodes of "Tosh.0" will premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 10:30 p.m.
In addition to the "Tosh.0" order, though, Comedy Central has also inked a pact for Tosh to star in an hour-long 2010 comedy special, which will be released on DVD and CD through the Comedy Central shingles. Tosh will also embark on a national stand-up tour to be presented through Comedy Central Live Entertainment.
"Daniel is extremely talented, incredibly funny and a perfect fit for our audience," says Comedy Central President Michele Ganeless in a statement. "We’re excited about the new season of 'Tosh.0' and look forward to showcasing him on all these platforms."
"Tosh.0" premiered in June of 2009. The show's 16-episode first season averaged 1.3 million viewers and scores particularly well among male viewers 18-24.
States Tosh of the big deal, "Comedy Central is making all my dreams come true, now if they could just cure my disease... technically it's more of an infection."
