Coming off a dark turn on CBS' "Harper's Island," Christopher Gorham has booked the male lead on USA's spy thriller "Covert Affairs."

Piper Perabo was previously cast in the lead role as a gifted CIA trainee who doesn't know that her ex-boyfriend is under investigation by her trainers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gorham will play Auggie Anderson, an agent blinded on a previous mission. He serves as the main character's assistant/partner navigating the intelligence waters.

Matt Corman and Chris Ord wrote the pilot, which had been on cast contingency. A green light is now expected, the trade says.

Gorham's extensive list of TV credits includes "Ugly Betty," "Out of Practice," "Medical Investigation" and "Popular," as well as mining somewhat similar terrain in the short-lived favorite "Jake 2.0."
