Chris Pine in talks for 'The Art of Making Money'
D.J. Caruso may sign on as director for thief-to-counterfeiter drama
Chris Pine
“Star Trek” star Chris Pine is apparently in talks with Paramount to play the lead Art Williams in “The Art of Making Money,” a drama based on true events about a Chicago thief who evolved into a master counterfeiter.
According to Variety, director D.J. Caruso (“Eagle Eye,” “Disturbia”) is also in negotiations, to helm the effort. It will be produced by Brian Robbins, Sharla Sumpter and Brad Weston. The script was penned by Frank Baldwin.
The film is based on the book “The Art of Making Money: The Story of a Master Counterfeiter” by Jason Kersten, who turned his 2005 article in Rolling Stone into the longer story.
Pine played James T. Kirk in this past summer’s “Trek” and is currently starring alongside of Denzel Washington in “Unstoppable.”
