CBS sets 'Rules of Engagement' return
'Worst Week' will end in February and 'Rules of Engagement' will start a new season in March
Meet the new occupant of CBS' Monday 9:30 p.m. ET comedy slot, same as the old occupant of CBS' Monday 9:30 p.m. comedy slot.
CBS announced on Wednesday (Jan. 7) that "Rules of Engagement" will return to its familiar time period starting on Monday, March 2. "Worst Week," which has basked in the glow of its "Two and a Half Men" lead-in all fall, will end its run after 17 episodes and will go into limbo for a second season pick-up.
This will be the third season for "Rules of Engagement." Yes, our minds boggle as well. Patrick Warburton, Megyn Price, Oliver Hudson, Bianca Kajlich and David Spade all return for another laff-track enhanced look at male/female relationships.
Airing in the Monday 9:30 p.m. slot last season, "Rules of Engagement" averaged a robust 10.95 million viewers, plus a 4.1 rating in the key 18-49 demo (and a 5.0 rating in the 25-54 age range CBS professes to target).
While March 2 will mark the "Rules of Engagement" premiere, "Work Week" will actually be ending its season a bit earlier. The highest rated new comedy of the season -- holding off the murderer's row of "Kath & Kim," "Gary Unmarried" and "Do Not Disturb" we guess -- will have its season finale on Feb. 9.
