Brittany Snow falls for 'Gossip Girl' spinoff
'American Dreams' star will play a young Lily van der Woodsen on The CW
Brittany Snow
It would appear that Brittany Snow is in place to star in the backdoor pilot for a possible spinoff from The CW's "Gossip Girl."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Snow will play the wild teenage version of Lily Rhodes, who grows up to become Lily van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford).
The backdoor pilot will air as the May 11 episode of "Gossip Girl" and will be written by series co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Set in Los Angeles in the '80s, the spinoff will focus on Lily leaving her Montecito private school and moving in with her sister Carol (Krysten Ritter) in the San Fernando Valley.
Along the way, Lily has to go through the traumas of public school, while discovering the magic of Los Angeles' music scene. As any "Gossip Girl" fan knows, Lily does have a thing for musicians, or for one musician in particular.
Also new to the cast is Shilo Fernandez ("Jericho") as "a hot Valley punk guy with a caustic wit."
Snow is best known as the star of NBC's "American Dreams" and from her roles in "Hairspray" and "Prom Night." In recent years, Snow has appeared in a slew of indie films attempting to break away from her perky high school image, including "The Vicious Kind" and "Finding Amanda."
