Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz are in talks to reunite onscreen
The duo previously starred in the thriller 'Vanilla Sky'
Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz may star in their first romantic comedy together.
Cameron Diaz already signed on to one new romantic comedy this week and now it appears she may re-team with Tom Cruise for a new rom com at 20th Century Fox.
According to Variety, James Mangold has come on board a currently untitled Fox project formerly known as "Wichita" and "Trouble Man." The picture centers on a woman with terrible luck in the love department until she meets a mysterious good looking man on a blind date.
The trade reports the script has been a favorite of Fox execs for some time. At one point Chris Tucker and Eva Mendes were attached, but that pairing didn't work out (no doubt because of Tucker's reluctance to work.
Neither Cruise nor Diaz are formerly attached to the project, but the studio is floating their names to (1) either pressure them to commit or (2) show the talent how serious they are about finally getting the picture made.
The duo first met onscreen in Cameron Crowe's "Vanilla Sky" which found Diaz playing a very believable stalker to Cruise's confused pretty boy.
Mangold's last picture was "3:10 to Yuma," but he had his biggest success at Fox with "Walk the Line."
