ABC has set a January premiere date for the legal dramedy "The Deep End."

"The Deep End" is set to launch on Thursday, Jan. 21 in the 8 p.m. slot vacated by the extended hiatus for "FlashForward."

Created by David Hemingson, "The Deep End" focuses on five "eager and attractive" young associates a prestigious Los Angeles law firm who come to learn that their new job is even more cutthroat than they initially imagined.

The associates are played by familiar faces Matt Long ("Jack and Bobby"), Leah Pipes ("Sorority Row"), Tina Majorino ("Veronica Mars") and Mehcad Brooks ("True Blood"), plus Ben Lawson ("Neighbours").

The cast also includes Billy Zane ("Titanic") and Clancy Brown ("Carnivale").

"FlashForward" concluded its 2009 season last Thursday and will return on March 4, 2010.

This leaves only the quirky mystery "Happy Town" looking for a home on ABC's midseason slate.
