The 27th Independent Spirit Awards were handed out in the traditional tent on a beach ceremony today in Santa Monica, CA.  Seth Rogen is hosting the event which recognizes the best in independently produced cinema from the United States and around the world.

    Oh oh. If I remember correctly, doesn't this list represent Kris' nightmare scenario of what might happen at the Independent Spirit Awards today? Something he wrote or said on the podcast? Has there ever been so much apparent overlap between AMPAS and Indies? How about we think it of the Oscars going for the Indie winners and not the Indies going for the mainstream pics, will that make it easier...? Then again, mustn't jump the gun, the Oscars don't announce their pix until tomorrow...

    On a side note, I caught the little seen but justly nominated "In the Family" when it played for just a week in New York. I highly recommend it.
