One movie that should have got more love than it did out of this year's Sundance Film Festival was Bobcat Goldthwait's "World's Greatest Dad."

The indie is a very dark comedy about a college professor (Robin Williams) who has done everything patiently possible to reach his teenage son Kyle (Daryl Sabara), but is slowly realizing he may just have the world's worst child. When tragedy strikes, the dad makes some questionable decisions about his own future and the legacy of his son. It provides Williams one of his best role in years and proves Goldthwait is a directing and screenwriting talent who should really be working on the studio level. Speaking to both men last week (see the video embedded to the left), it's clear they know they have created something special, even if it doesn't become a monster hit.

Unfortunately, as is the Magnolia Pictures way, the film has been available on VOD since July 24, but is finally getting a theatrical release this weekend. If you're looking for an alternative to "Inglourious Basterds" or "District 9," it's well worth checking out.
