Every once in a while a talented director gets another chance and after seven years, Lisa Cholodenko seems to be getting her.  After a strong breakout with the Ally Sheedy comeback "High Art" (which Sheedy promptly wasted any goodwill from) , the filmmaker stumbled with 2002's "Laurel Canyon" which featured Christian Bale and Kate Beckinsale before they achieved star status.  Now, seven years later, she's returning with "The Kids Are All Right" and recruiting an intriguing cast along the way.

Variety reports Oscar nominees Julianne Moore and Anne Bening will star in "All Right" along with Mark Ruffalo and up and coming youngsters Josh Hutcherson ("Journey to the Center of the Earth" ) and Mia Wasikowska (Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland").

According to the trade, the drama revolves around a brother and sister (Hutcherson, Wasikowska) who set out to find their lesbian parents' sperm donor thereby upsetting the family dynamic once they find him.  Bening and Moore play the gay parents, Ruffalo is the newfound genetic father.

Moore returns to the screen this fall with the Coen Bros. "A Single Man" and "The Private lives of Pippa Lee."  Ruffalo will appear in the October releases "Shutter Island" and "Where the Wild Things Are."

"The Kids Are All Right" is now in production.

    • A Single Man is not a Coen Bros. film. The Julianne Moore Film is called The Kids are All Right, not, All Right.
