Sharona's returning to USA's 'Monk'

Departed co-star Bitty Schram will return for an episode in the eighth and final season of 'Monk'

HitFix Staff   USA Network confirmed on Thursday (March 26) that Bitty Schram will return to "Monk" for its eighth and final season. It won't be a long return, though, for Schram's Sharona. The character is only slated to guest star on a single episode. Sharona was the nurse and Girl Friday to Tony Shalhoub's Adrian Monk for the show's first three seasons. Schram and the show parted ways due to a contractual dispute. Since leaving the show, Schram has appeared on episodes of "Kitchen Confidential," "Thief" and "Ghost Whisperer." On "Monk," it was said that Sharona moved back to New Jersey with her son to remarry her ex-husband. "We couldn't think of a better way to help wrap up the series than with the return of Bitty's character," Shalhoub says in a statement. "Bringing some closure to Sharona is long overdue." The eighth season of "Monk" started production this week in Los Angeles.
