Amanda Bynes has been cast in one of the leads in ABC's comedy pilot "Canned."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pilot focuses on a group of friends who are collectively fired (or "Canned") in a corporate shakeup. Bynes will play a naive Midwestern girl, joining Tim Peper, Stephanie Lemelin and Baron Vaughn in the comedy.
Bynes broke out as one of the crown jewels of Nickelodeon's sketch comedy factory, starring in "All That" and "The Amanda Show." She returned to TV as the star of The WB's "What I Like About You," which ran for four seasons despite never generating strong ratings.
On the big screen, Bynes starred in "Big Fat Liar," "What a Girl Wants" and "She's the Man," but had her biggest hit with a supporting role in "Hairspray." She last appeared in the Lifetime movie "Living Proof."
