No, nuts aficionados, "Jericho" isn't coming back to CBS, but the network may be doing the next best thing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Jericho" star Skeet Ulrich has signed on to star in the drama "Back," from "CSI: Miami" veteran Dean Widenmann and producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.
The pilot, which will be directed by Mark Pellington, focuses on a man who returns home and discovers that he was reported missing eight years earlier after Sept. 11, 2001. The people he left behind have changed and he has to reconnect with them.
Wait. Prodigal son returns after a long absence? Has to mend ties with the people he left behind? Discovers that the the world he knew is no longer the same?
Throw in a mushroom cloud, a love triangle, Lennie James and a military skirmish with the community next door and there would be some very happy "Jericho" fans out there.
[James, co-starring in CBS' untitled U.S. Attorneys project, isn't too far away.]
In addition to his two seasons on "Jericho," which is currently running in repeats on The CW's low-rated Sunday night, Ulrich's TV credits include the TNT miniseries "Into the West" and ABC's "Miracles." The "Scream" and "Chill Factor" star has the feature "Armored" in the can.
