It may be a little early to start making predictions about the 2010 Emmys, but we're just going to go out on a limb and say that HBO's "The Pacific" may be in the running for an award or two.
Part of that conviction obviously stems from the fact that "The Pacific" comes from Playtone and DreamWorks, who produced HBO's Emmy-winning "Band of Brothers" and that the last thing Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman produced for HBO was "John Adams," which picked up 13 Emmys.
More than that, though, there's something about watching Hanks and executive producer Steven Spielberg get passionate about the heroism and sacrifice of the soldiers on the Pacific Front that gets us a bit misty.
"The Pacific" stars James Badge Dale, Joe Mazzello and Jon Seda (at the tip of a vast ensemble) and premieres on HBO in March 2010.
This clip, released by HBO just on the eve of Veterans Day, gives just a taste of what the filmmakers were going for.
