Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009.

TV audiences appear willing to welcome the Visitors back into their homes. ABC's remake/reboot/reimagining of "V" had a strong premiere on Tuesday in the first hour of what will be a four-episode November launch, followed by an eventual spring relaunch.

"V" won its hour in the 18-49 demo and, from ABC's point-of-view, stayed reassuringly steady in its second half-hour. Of course, from CBS' point-of-view, "NCIS" still dominated the hour overall, but that's a different story.

Actually, it's not an entirely different story, because CBS still won the night among adults 18-49 with a 3.4 rating, nipping ABC's 3.3 rating. NBC's 3.0 rating was a close third, followed by FOX's 2.4 rating and the 1.0 rating for The CW in the key demographic.

Overall, CBS' margin-of-victory was even greater, averaging an estimated 15.55 million viewers and a 9.8 rating/16 share, comfortably ahead of the 7.6/12 and 12 million viewers for ABC. NBC's 5.0/8 and FOX's 3.8/6 followed. The CW was fifth with a 1.3/2 for the night.

In the 8 p.m. hour, CBS won overall with an 11.7/18 for "NCIS," which also averaged 19.39 million viewers and a 4.2 rating in the demo. ABC's "V" had an 8.5/13, averaged nearly 13.95 million viewers and winning the hour with a 5.0 rating in the 18-49 demo. NBC's "The Biggest Loser" was third overall, beating the 4.0/6 for the first hour of FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance." The CW's "90210" had a 1.5/2 for fifth.

CBS stayed in first overall in the 9 p.m. hour with a relatively low 9.5/15 for "NCIS: Los Angeles." ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" was a close second with a 9.3/14. NBC's "The Biggest Loser" had a 5.8/9 overall and won the hour with a 3.8 demo rating. FOX's "S You Think You Can Dance" slipped in its second hour, but stayed in fourth. The CW's "Melrose Place" had a 1.1/2 and 1.48 million viewers for fifth.

"The Good Wife" closed primetime in first for CBS with an 8.3/14, a series low. ABC's "The Forgotten" had a 4.9/9 and tied with NBC's third place "The Jay Leno Show" in the key demo.

All ratings information comes from preliminary Fast National Nielsen data, which includes live and same-day DVR viewing. All numbers are subject to change.
