FOX has set aside a block of primetime December programming for a two-hour holiday special starring Carrie Underwood.
The fittingly titled "Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special" will air on Monday, Dec. 7. In the special, Underwood will perform music from her upcoming album, as well as her earlier hits and some holiday favorites. And if you want guest stars, she'll have guest stars, just don't ask for a big list.
Thus far, the only stars set to join Underwood include fellow "American Idol" winner David Cook, plus country favorites Dolly Parton and Brad Paisley, but FOX promises there are more to come.
"Carrie Underwood: An All-Star Holiday Special" will be produced by Big Red 2 Entertainment, with Simon Fuller, Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman executive producing. In addition, Shankman and Lythgoe will serve as directors.
Probably the most successful of the "American Idol" winners with more than 10 million albums sold in the US, Underwood's new album, "Play On," will be released on Nov. 3. The album's first single, "Cowboy Casanova," moved 110,000+ digital units in its first week.
