After months of negotiations, sometimes heated, "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner has reached a new deal with Lionsgate.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Weiner's pact is a two-year, seven-figure deal, which will keep the showrunner on board for a third and possibly fourth season of "Mad Men."

Lionsgate had previously picked up a third season of "Mad Men" in October, even though Weiner's original deal was only for the show's first two seasons. The studio and the "Mad Men" mastermind were rumored to be so far apart in negotiations that Lionsgate had begun to investigate another possible showrunner.

It's now expected that Weiner and his "Mad Men" writers can begin breaking stories in advance of the summer launch for the series.

In addition to the "Mad Men" part of the deal, the trade says Weiner will also be developing new series projects for Lionsgate TV, as well as a possible feature.

This past weekend, "Mad Men" won its second consecutive Golden Globe for best drama series. The '60s set ad man drama also won the drama series Emmy at this past fall's Emmy ceremony.
