By combining veteran entertainment editors with an innovative Event Calendar app, HitFix delivers a fun and engaging community that lets fans get the inside scoop, express their fandom and personalize their entertainment lifestyle.
Frustrated that it was difficult to find insider entertainment news that they cared about (without the pesky gossip), co-founders Greg and Jen saw an opportunity to create a new destination for entertainment fans that combined news, community and events in a fun and engaging way. In 2008 HitFix set out to fill the void between trade publications and celebrity gossip sites, combining the news with a hands-on planning tool, the HitFix Event Calendar.
HitFix.com launched on Dec 22, 2008 with the mission to eschew celebrity gossip and always state when information is confirmed by reliable sources or is still just Hollywood hearsay.
Since inception, HitFix has grown steadily in popularity. The addition of experienced staff writers hired from other popular entertainment outlets has helped increase membership, with Drew McWeeny, Alan Sepinwall, Daniel Fienberg, Melinda Newman, Katie Hasty, and Editor-In-Chief Greg Ellwood providing coverage on what’s next in entertainment.
In December 2009 HitFix launched the free for download Find Your Fix iPhone app, making the Event Calendar, in its entirety, a mobile scheduling tool. The HitFix Find Your Fix iPhone app was reviewed on G4TV ‘s Attack of the Show where it was called “A godsend for entertainment junkies... one of the app store's hidden gems.”
HitFix is in a constant state of expansion and is constantly adding new features to improve the user experience across multiple platforms. In 2011 HitFix added pools for major awards, such as the Golden Globes and the Oscars as well as Fantasy Reality TV leagues for shows such as American Idol.
